Growing Indian android smartphone marketplace


  

Android Smartphone marketplace is growing speedly in indian market. Globally, Smartphone Market grew 61% this year with total shipment volumes reaching 491.4 million units this year, a whopping increase well over 304.7 million units this year! Smartphones are replacing features phones at considerably faster rate than expected, because of consistently falling pricing.

Currently, Android is controlling over 68.2% from the global android smartphone OS share of the market, beside 1.3 million Android products are being activated every single day. oogle reprtedly shipped 104.8 million smartphone in only Q2 of this year and it’s quite in front of its nearest rival Apple when it comes to smartphone shipments. Android indicates an unprecedented 106.5% year-over-year development in Q2 2012.

Just a few months before, Google revealed at its I/O developers event that emerging markets like Brazil and Thailand, where Android share of the market grew up by 500% within the last one year. Undoubtedly, Indian smartphone marketplace is currently flourished with Android phones. The prosperity of Android in matured markets is a result of its high-end expensive handsets, however in India, the recognition of Android phones is a result of low-end affordable handsets. Interestingly, India recorded 87% development in terms of android smartphone shipments this year compare to the year before.
In India, Samsung is leading over other players with 49% market share  and the company has played a significant role in the proliferation of Android OS across the country. On the other hand, Huawei, Micromax, Spice and ZTE are more likely to boost Android Smartphone market share in the upcoming years in the country.Feature phones, which make up more than 90 percent of the market, registered a 7% from 160.5 million to 172.2 million.But smartphones sales shot up by 87 % from 6 million to 11.2 million. Nokia had 38% of the share followed by Samsung’s 28%. Last year, more than 30 vendors launched 150 models of smartphones. Many of them preferred the Android Operating 
System, which registered a tremendous growth of over 600 percent in 2011 (34% share) as compared to 2010 (9% share).

In 2012, the proportion of smartphones with extended features like NFC and 3D gaming are likely to increase,said Naveen Mishra, Lead Telecoms Analyst, CyberMedia Research. It will be interesting to see how Microsoft and Nokia take their partnership to the next level with a new range of smart devices based on the Windows 7.5 Mango OS platform.
